Passover Guidelines & Highlights

In general, the dietary principles remain the same during Passover, with only a few necessary adjustments based on holiday traditions.

To maintain our health and progress, we will continue to follow the plan and avoid the holiday's sugary and dough-based temptations—it’s worth it!

The Formulas (Supplements):

There is no specific "Kosher for Passover" certification for the formulas, but all ingredients are kosher-compliant except for Formula 14.

If you have already started the formulas, you may pause them temporarily until the end of the holiday.

Bread Substitutes:

You can use various Matzoh options: Spelt or Oat Matzoh (check for appropriate Kosher certification).

The Holiday Meal (Seder Night):

Soup: A rich vegetable soup is highly recommended.

Kneidlach (Matzoh Balls): Keep to a very small amount!

Fish: A reasonable portion according to your family tradition.

Main Course: A serving of chicken (100–150 grams).

Vegetables: Eat cooked vegetables and fresh salads. It is recommended to eat unlimited cabbage, lettuce, green leaves of all kinds, and bean sprouts.

Ritual Requirements: For the "Kazayit" (required amount) of Matzoh and the four cups of wine/grape juice, stick to the minimum required by Halacha (Jewish law).

General Passover Foods:

Fruits: Apples, oranges, tropical fruits, pears, and berries.

Proteins: Eggs, chicken, fish, tuna in water (Kosher for Passover), and 3% fat cheeses or yogurt (for those consuming dairy).

Carbs: Sweet potato (occasionally).

Oils: Extra virgin olive oil (use only for light heating, such as omelets or baking).

Green Tea & Sweeteners: Check for "Kosher for Passover" certification for green tea, Stevia, or Agave.

For Those Eating "Kitniyot" (Legumes):

Legumes: Beans, chickpeas, fava beans, and corn (frozen is preferred over canned).

Additional: Rice, rice cakes, and Tahini.

Wishing you a healthy, Kosher, and Happy Passover!

Dr. Tzachi zilber, Ph.D.
